German Waffen SS Rottenfuhrer, Feldgendarmerie Russia 1942
This is an interesting figure – also in my top favorite figures
Back when I was a kid – I recall one of my favorite 1/35th figures was Tamiya’s Motorcycle Dispatch Rider supplied in the 88mm Flak Gun. Something just about motorcycle riders that seems so cool. When Dragon produced Johannes – I was eager to custom a FG motorcyclist …. Took a while to complete this huh?
This figure might appear to be a straight forward custom right? Nope- wish I could say that - lots of improvement was done. The main improved items were the coat, traffic wand, body mod & painted headsculpt and gloves. The base is also kinda special – it’s a resin block, heavy and it really makes the figure stand out. Plus the german crest makes it totally cool.
Here is the list of stuff I did :-
- Repainted headsculpt
- Slim Body Modification and Head/Neck modification
- Kradmantel improvements – repainted buttons, weathered, added custom shoulder boards, insertion of wire to create folds on the lower portion of the coat (hmmm .. hard to explain)
- Improved gorget – replaced chain with Lionroar’s PhotoEtch chain
- Improved/repainted gas canister (with Gas Cape bag) with modified sling for frontal wear
- Repainted Buckle and modified belt
- Repainted/Improved MP40 and scratch built sling
- Improved MP40 pouch
- Scratch built traffic wand (scratch built from acrylic rod and a metal disc!)
- Motorcyclist’s Riding Gloves – modified from from 1/6th Darth Vader G-Kit
- Improved dust goggles
- Improved/repainted M40 helmet
- Improved/weathered jack boots
- Improved/repainted flash light
- Self made toque
- Display base with groundwork & german creast plaque
One thing missing though – THE BIKE!!!!! Next FG figure perhaps? – gotta get my hands on a Zundapp or BMW………….
